Moisture Problem Recognition Part 1 - Crawlspaces, Basements, and Foundations
Moisture Problem Recognition Part 1 - Crawlspaces, Basements, and Foundations is designed to educate home inspectors on the different forms of water infiltration and moisture in crawlspaces and basements. Water infiltration and moisture are the cause of rot and deterioration in floor framing and home inspectors need to be aware of any and all types of water infiltration and moisture problems that are allowing rot and deterioration and fungal growth. This course is also designed to instruct and educate a home inspector on their personal safety when entering a crawlspace or basement. Emphasis is placed on listing limitations in report writing as to why certain areas could not be entered and visually inspected that are required to be inspected.
Overall, the course is designed to educate home inspectors on the importance of a crawlspace or basement inspection and how these areas affect the habitability of the entire dwelling.

Moisture Problem Recognition Part 2 - Roof, Attics, and Finished Areas of the Dwelling
Moisture Problem Recognition Part 2 - Roof, Attics, and Finished Areas of the Dwelling is designed to educate home inspectors on different forms of water infiltration in roofs, attics, and into interiors of the dwelling. Damaged roof coverings, vent pipe penetrations and improper flashings are examined and discussed to educate home inspectors on the harmful effects that these items can have on allowing water infiltration. Discussion on proper attic ventilation is discussed to educate home inspectors on adequate and proper ventilation to allow for seasonal condensation and proper airflow in an attic. Emhpasis is placed on personal safety and listing limitations in report writing as to why certain areas could not be entered and visually inspected that are required to be inspected.
Overall, the course is designed to educate home inspectors on the importance of a roof and attic inspection and how these areas affect the habitability of the entire dwelling.
First Flight Education will be offering 12 hours of contiuing education in 2011, including the NCHILB manadantory four hour course. Note:
The NCHILB staff will not be mailing out the Mandatory 2010-2011 update booklets to Home Inspectors this year. CE Sponsors/Intructors will distribute them to the Home Instectors when the class meets to ensure all Home Inspectors have their study materials in the course. The Update Course Fee shall be an all-inclusive fee including course materials.
